Drainage trenching sounds simple until you're the one standing in a half-finished hole with the wrong equipment and existing underground pipes to worry about. That's exactly the situation we stepped into on this one - a DIY attempt that hit a wall, and a homeowner who needed someone with the right machine and the know-how to finish it safely.

The tricky part with jobs like this isn't just digging a straight line. It's knowing what's already down there. Existing pipes running through the path of a trench can turn a straightforward dig into a costly mistake if you're not careful. We worked around them deliberately, keeping the trench clean and consistent without disturbing anything that needed to stay put.

On top of finishing the trench itself, we moved some large granite boulders that were in the way. That's where having the right excavation equipment matters. A Yanmar compact excavator is built for this kind of precision work - it gives us the reach and control to handle tough material without tearing up everything around it.

Drainage work that's done right the first time protects your property long-term. A properly cut trench sets up drainage pipe to function the way it's supposed to, directing water where you want it and away from where you don't. Cut corners on the dig, and everything downstream suffers for it.

Some jobs are worth handing off from the start. Others - like this one - just need someone to step in mid-project and see them through. Either way, our trenching services and utility excavation work are built around getting the job done correctly, no matter what the ground throws at us.
