This one had a few things going on at once. The driveway needed a full rehab, water management was a real problem during rain events, and getting from the driveway up to the house safely wasn't exactly easy. We tackled all of it in one scope of work.
The gravel surface was regraded and compacted clean. On both sides, you can see the large boulder rock work we placed to hold the hillside in check - that's your erosion control doing real work. It's not decorative. Those rocks are there to keep the slope from washing down onto the driveway every time it rains hard. We also lowered the culvert to smooth out the transition at the base of the drive, which makes a noticeable difference in how water moves and how vehicles enter.
The stairway and walkway were finished in stamped concrete with a natural stone texture. Wide treads, clean edges, and a gentle curve that follows the grade. It ties into the existing iron railing and gives the property a finished, polished look - even with a working gravel driveway right next to it. That contrast actually works really well.
This is the kind of job where every piece of it has a reason. The gravel rehab alone would have been incomplete without addressing the drainage. The drainage fix alone wouldn't have solved the access problem. We planned it as one connected system, and that's what you get when it's done right - a driveway that handles rain, holds its shape, and is actually easy to use.
Gravel road and driveway rehab is what we do. If your property has drainage issues, eroding slopes, rough access, or a driveway that just gets worse every winter, this is the kind of work that solves it for the long haul.
